Ring spoke about her vision for the district, which included “fighting for working families, living wages, fighting against racial injustice, fighting against economic injustice and environmental injustice” as well as making Georgia’s coast the “Silicon Valley of clean, renewable, sustainable energy sources.”

“I believe that we are engaged in a battle in this country for the soul of this country,” Ring said. “We have elected representatives that have completely lost touch with the needs of the people in this country.”

The organization invited the 1st District’s incumbent, Buddy Carter, but Branch President Al Scott said he was told Carter was out of town.

“The congressman who is not here, perhaps, does not have a vision for the first congressional district, since he’s not here to share it,” Scott said.
